Hi, I’m Bev!
I’m an everyday runner, a lover of a challenge and someone who has discovered that you don’t have to be a naturally gifted athlete to achieve things you once might have thought were beyond you.
Running has become a big part of my life, but it certainly hasn’t all been plain sailing. My journey has included personal bests, marathon finish lines, new challenges, injuries, time away from running and the inevitable days when getting out of the door feels like the hardest part.
And that’s exactly what I want to share.
My running journey.
After moving to Weymouth, I got into running and gradually found myself taking on bigger challenges. What started as a way of getting out and running again developed into a love of seeing what I could achieve.

I’ve now completed ten marathons, taken on half marathons and other races, and discovered that there’s always another challenge waiting around the corner.
One of my proudest achievements was running the Newport Marathon in 4:48:37, setting a new personal best. Moments like that make all the training worthwhile.
Of course, not every race goes to plan, and not every training block ends with the result you’re hoping for. There have been injuries, frustrating setbacks and plenty of learning along the way.
But that’s running. You take the good with the bad, try to learn from it and keep looking forward to the next challenge.
What I’m working on now:
My running goals continue to evolve, and at the moment I’m focusing on improving my 5K.
It’s a different kind of challenge from marathon running, and I’m enjoying finding out what I can achieve. I’ll be sharing the training, the progress, the setbacks and the race-day results along the way.
I’m not here because I’ve got running all figured out. I’m here because I enjoy the journey, I like having something to work towards, and I know there are plenty of other runners out there who can relate to the experience.
The reality of being a runner
Social media can make running look effortless. Perfect training sessions, amazing race times and people who seem to get everything right.
My experience is a little more varied!
Some runs leave me feeling fantastic. Others leave me questioning my pacing, my training plan or quite possibly my sanity. Sometimes things click, and sometimes they really don’t.
But I think that’s what makes running so rewarding. You never quite know how things will go, and there’s always something new to discover about yourself.
I’m not an elite athlete or a running expert. I’m just someone who enjoys running, setting goals and seeing where the journey takes me.

Happy Marathon Girl is where I share that journey, from everyday training runs to big race days and all the moments in between.
If you’re a runner yourself, thinking about getting back into running, or simply enjoy following someone else’s adventures, you’re very welcome here.
There will be new goals, familiar struggles, hopefully a few PBs and no doubt some surprises along the way.
